Constitution Review round-tables held in London
30 June 2008
On Thursday 19 June 2008 the IFRS Foundation held public round-table meetings in London on the two issues dealt with in part 1 of the Constitution Review.
The round-tables were announced on this Website in May this year, together with the Trustees draft proposals on the first part of the Constitution Review. The round tables were convened in order to assist the Trustees in shaping their thinking on the proposals in the first part of the Constitution Review.
When launching the Constitution Review in March this year the Trustees announced that the Constitution Review would be run in two parts.
The first part would deal with fundamental constitutional governance and accountability elements and the second part would deal with all other constitutional matters, and would commence at a slightly later date.
By doing so the Trustees hope that possible resulting changes following the first part of the Constitution Review, will be implemented on or about 1 January 2009.
The possible changes resulting from the second part of the Constitution Review, that is due to commence in October-November this year, will come into effect on or about 1 January 2010.
