3rd edition of the Financial Education and Investor Behavior Conference, Comissão de Valores Mobiliários, Rio de Janeiro, 7th - 8th December 2015
The dialogue on the behavior of individuals and the exchange of experiences are primordial for the strengthening of financial education actions in Brazil. In order to share knowledge and successful practices, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários - CVM (Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil) promoted the 3rd edition of the Financial Education and Investor Behavior Conference.
The event was held free of charge on December 7th and 8th in Rio de Janeiro. Economical abuse against elderly people, economical psychology, decision making and impulsiveness were among the topics to be discussed during the panels.
Besides academic discussions, financial education initiatives performed in digital channels by BM&FBOVESPA and the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association (Anbima) were presented.
The Financial Education and Investor Behavior Conference was also promoted by BM&FBOVESPA and supported by Cetip S.A. – Mercados Organizados and by Anbima, as well as institutionally supported by the British Embassy and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
10th Islamic Markets Program (IMP) 7-10 September in Kuala Lumpur
The Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) hosted the 10th Islamic Markets Program (IMP) on 7-10 September in Kuala Lumpur. Themed “Revving Up Islamic Finance to the Next Phase of Growth and Development", the annual program was designed to cater to senior regulators, academics and financial industry practitioners.
APEC Financial Regulators Training Initiative (FRTI) managed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - 2015 Training Schedule Open to IOSCO Regulators
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers endorsed the establishment of the APEC Financial Regulators Training Initiative (FRTI) in May 1998 to strengthen financial supervision and regulation in the region by enhancing the analytical and technical capacity of bank supervisors and securities regulators. To implement APEC FRTI, a Secretariat was established at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Headquarters in Manila, Philippines and is responsible for coordinating the design of the training programs, sourcing presenters and implementing the training activities. APEC FRTI seminars are primarily targeted at junior and mid-level staff of financial supervisory and regulatory agencies and stock and derivatives exchanges. The Secretariat invites and accepts nominations for participants from central banks, monetary authorities, prudential regulators and securities and futures regulatory agencies and stock and futures exchanges.
APRC Webinar on Corporate Regulation, 28 January 2015
Following the success of the inaugural Webinar held on 10 November 2014, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong hosted the second APRC Webinar on 28 January 2015.
Mr. Michael Duignan, Senior Director of the SFC Corporate Finance Division, presented on Disclosure of inside information by listed companies - a new approach to the regulation of listed companies:
A presentation on the split of regulatory responsibilities between the Hong Kong SFC and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and how that relationship changed following the introduction of a new statutory regime for disclosure of inside information by listed companies.
