19th FSI-IOSCO Conference, Virtual, 18-19 November 2024
The Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and IOSCO are jointly organizing their annual Conference in a virtual format on 18 and 19 November 2024. This Conference, which is intended for bank supervisors and securities regulators, marks the nineteenth year that FSI and IOSCO are organizing this important joint program. IOSCO MMoU Training - The Compliance Handbook, 14 November 2024
The new Compliance Handbook came into effect on 1 October 2024. To support MMoU signatories in the implementation of the Handbook, as part of the NextGEN Capacity Building programme, there will be a virtual training session on 14 November 2024.
IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub Workshop on Regulation of CDA and DeFi, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 1 November 2024
Part of the IOSCO NextGEN capacity building program, the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub will be hosting a 1-day physical workshop in Kuala Lumpur on 1 November 2024 on jurisdictional approaches in regulating Crypto-Digital Assets and Digital Assets and Decentralized Finance (DeFi). This initiative follows the publication IOSCO’s policy recommendations on Crypto and Digital Assets and DeFi. The workshop will examine the recommendations outlined in both the IOSCO reports, as well as the umbrella note that explains the interoperability between the two sets of recommendations. IOSCO-World Bank Workshop on Sustainability Reporting Adoption Roadmaps for Growth and Emerging Markets, San José, Costa Rica, 24-25 October 2024
IOSCO is collaborating with the World Bank to assist with the sustainability reporting adoption plans of jurisdictions, which will involve dialogue and consultation with national stakeholders and more strategic jurisdictional decisions. This program is targeted at IOSCO´s Growth and Emerging Market (GEM) membership and rolled out throughout the various regions with selected member jurisdictions. It is part of IOSCO´s capacity building program for corporate sustainability reporting to assist its members on their journeys towards adoption and implementation of the ISSB Standards.
Building on the first IOSCO-World Bank Workshop that was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in April 2024 and targeted at GEM members in the Asia-Pacific region, this second workshop is targeted at GEM members in the Inter-American region, and will be hosted by SUGEVAL Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica, on 24-25 October 2024. Toronto Centre-IOSCO Risk Based Supervision Program for Securities Regulators from Europe, Virtual, 14-18 October 2024
Together with the Toronto Centre, IOSCO has developed a virtual training program on risk-based supervision targeted at securities regulators from growth and emerging markets in the European region. This program builds on the success of previous programs for securities regulators in the Africa and Middle East region and the Inter-American region. IOSCO C4 Virtual Conference on The Use of Technology in Securities Markets Enforcement, 7 October 2024
The IOSCO Committee 4 on Enforcement and the Exchange of Information (C4) will host its 3rd Conference on The Use of Technology in Securities Markets Enforcement (Enforcement Technology Conference) on Monday 7 October 2024 (13:00 to 17:00 CEST) in a virtual format.
The Enforcement Technology Conference is a flagship event established by the IOSCO C4 for securities enforcement, data analytics, and investigative technology professionals from IOSCO member authorities. The conference is C4’s initiative for raising members’ awareness of the importance of practical and intelligent application of technology to enforcement, and the current and emerging technological tools for combating securities fraud and misconduct. It is intended to inspire the incubation of ideas for developing investigative and enforcement technological tools as well as to foster knowledge-sharing among members about enforcement technology.

IOSCO-ISDA Workshop: Policy Framework for Safe and Efficient Derivatives Activity in Emerging and Developing Markets, Livingstone, Zambia, 3-4 October 2024
IOSCO and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) are organizing a Training Workshop on Policy Framework for Safe and Efficient Derivatives Activity in Emerging and Developing Markets. In this training workshop, participants from emerging and developing markets will be equipped with the knowledge to develop an appropriate framework for secure and efficient derivatives activity in their jurisdictions. IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub Workshop on Market Surveillance, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 27-28 June 2024
The 1.5-day in-person Workshop organised by the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub examined the driving forces shaping today´s surveillance landscape and explored current approaches and best practices from regulators and industry experts, covering topics such as monitoring crypto markets, social media and the use of AI and other technological developments in relation to surveillance. The Workshop took place at the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 27-28 June 2024.
8th IOSCO-PIFS-Harvard Law School Global Certificate Program for Regulators of Securities Markets – Phase I, Madrid, Spain, 24-28 June 2024
IOSCO and the Program on International Financial Systems and Harvard Law School (PIFS-HLS) jointly developed this two-phase program to offer IOSCO members an executive education program that is exclusively tailored for regulators of securities markets. Attendees have up to three years to complete both phases of the Global Certificate Program. Successful attendees will be awarded a joint certificate of participation issued by IOSCO and PIFS-Harvard Law School. Also, IOSCO members may attend any part of the program on a non-certificate basis. This year marks the 8th edition of the program which was inaugurated in 2016.
Phase I, hosted by IOSCO, consists of the following components: online learning materials and a one week-long in-person module on regulation and compliance. The in-person module will be conducted at IOSCO´s premises in Madrid (Spain) from 24-28 June 2024 and will cover the fundamentals and intricacies of securities regulation and compliance and related current critical issues. These sessions will be delivered primarily by current or former securities regulators.
Phase II, hosted by PIFS-HLS, consists of a one week-long in-person module that will be conducted on campus at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge (Massachusetts, US) from 9-13 December 2024 (TBC). This one week-long session will examine current and future regulatory challenges and emerging issues and will be delivered by leading academics, securities regulators and public policy makers.
While any IOSCO member employee may attend the program, it is specifically designed for regulatory staff with strong leadership potential and approximately five to seven years of regulatory experience.

IOSCO-IFRSF Capacity Building Program on Sustainable Finance: Disclosure Requirements for Corporate Issuers, Technical Training Program, São Paulo, Brazil, 11-12 April 2024
IOSCO has developed a capacity building program to support an efficient implementation of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. The program is exclusively tailored for securities regulators that are members of IOSCO. Recognising the evolving nature of financial crime and the challenges jurisdictions face in conducting risk assessments for virtual assets, the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub together with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) are organising a 2-day virtual Workshop to help IOSCO members understand and implement FATF Recommendations into the regulatory value chain.
To be delivered by subject matter experts, the Workshop will discuss IOSCO’s Policy Recommendations on Crypto and Digital Asset (CDA) Markets and how they relate to FATF’s Recommendations. It will also provide a regional overview of virtual asset activities and explore risk assessment frameworks related to virtual asset service providers. The Workshop will seek to gain insights from FATF assessors, and hear from selected jurisdictions on the implementation of FATF Recommendations covering licensing & registration, supervision and enforcement, as well as the Travel Rule.

IOSCO AMERC TA Workshop on Developing On-site Inspection Manuals, Muscat, Oman, 5-6 March 2024
The IOSCO Technical Assistance Workshop on Developing On-site Inspection Manuals for the Africa/Middle-East region will be hosted by the Capital Market Authority of Oman, in Muscat, Oman, on 5-6 March 2024. This 2-day Workshop aims to be a practical discussion with regard to different approaches taken with respect to on-site inspection manuals and to provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementing such manuals so far. The Workshop builds on the AMERC targeted technical assistance on on-site inspection manuals and is addressed to growth and emerging markets jurisdictions in the Africa/Middle-East region. Participating jurisdictions are expected to designate the Director/Head of the Supervision or Inspection Department (or similar) to attend the Workshop.
